Ridgeview Health and Rehab Center Collecting School Supplies for Area Children
Skilled Nursing Facility Helping to Stock Shelves at Local Schools
Aug 9, 2023
Ridgeview Health and Rehab Center is lending a hand to local children and teachers as they prepare for the new school year. To provide area classrooms with the materials they need for students to succeed, the skilled nursing facility is leading a school supplies drive locally.
Staff members at Ridgeview have volunteered to shop for the types of materials kids and teachers need to write, color, create, and more. They will be using funds donated by the facility itself, and the supplies will be provided to local public schools.
“We are all helping 'our' kids,” said Nancy Gelsinger, CEO/administrator of Ridgeview. “This is one way we can help them succeed, and also benefit the entire community. Some of them are the grandchildren or great grandchildren of our residents, and we see them when they come to visit, so we like to support local families and teachers.”
According to local teachers, the following items are the most-needed donations. Ridgeview will be donating some of these, however the facility notes that schools are asking the community to also consider donating these additional supplies:
- Pencils, pens, crayons
- Glue sticks, markers
- Notebooks, filler paper
“We are helping our students and teachers focus on learning by removing some of their responsibility for obtaining sufficient supplies,” said Gelsinger. “Students succeed when they can concentrate on their studies, especially when they have the materials on hand that foster development and creativity.”
